More Updates

Eudora 5.1.1 installed and worked fine, without any of the problems I've read about online.

Installed Palm Desktop 4 (which advised me that I menght need to restart). Tried to sync, no luck. Software Update in Classice said it needed to download something for the Palm USB/Serial Adapter widget, but couldn't find it. It was then I noticed that AirPort had gone from four bars down to two. Rebooted and all was well. Kinda of strange, but I'm used to these sorts of things.

Now all I need to find is a decent, Fetch-like FTP tool and the OS X version of Analog and I'll be updated. Oh, and Mozilla 1.0 (when it comes out).

Eudora for X

Now that Eudora is finally available for OS X, it looks like I'm nearly out of Classic. Time to download.

Rush at CNN

There's a pretty big article/interview at CNN, including a discography, history, and interview transcripts. Worth a look. Nice to see the band getting some mainstream news attention.

Speed Bump?

At The Register: speed bumps for the Mac in July.

You know, I'm really quite happy with my iBook that runs at 600. The only two things that limit my internet activities are 1) using dialup and 2) not having Eudora in OS X. Once it comes out of beta, I'll pick it up.

Princess Nine

Saw a teaser/preview for Princess Nine on one of my RoboTech dvds yesterday. Looks pretty interesting, I need to track down the first disc somewhere.

Finally Wireless

Ordered an AirPort base station and card last week, which finally arrived last Thursday. (Ok, I actually picked it up from the FedEx office in Skokie, a wired place to be after hours. It still amazes me that you can drop something off there, pay some money, and it'll be where you want it to be some time the next day.) Plugged the base station in, and the lights went through their little flashing dance and settled down to the default green pilot light. Installed the AirPort card in the iBook and....nothing. Rebooted, reinstalled, zapped the PRAM...nothing. To make a long story short: took it to the Apple Store at Woodfield on Monday and they diagnosed the card as defective and gave me a new one.

I can honestly say that wireless networking is so cool that, even over dialup, I'd have a problem going back to being tethered to the iMac or desk.

Disliked Fonts

Been meaning to link to The Scourge of Arial for some time now. Good article. The font I really dislike, though, is Comic Sans. Bleh.

Mobile Entertainment Reivew

Mobile Entertainment has an interview and review of Vapor Trails.

I guess I missed their review of My Favorite Headache when it was released a couple of years ago.

Vapor Trails

Picked it up at Borders on the way to work today. Who knew that the one on Michigan Avenue opens at 8:00 am?
Vapor Trails is a new image at the Earth Observatory site. The geeks there even came up with a Rush-inspired caption that isn't too painful to read.

Hugh Syme

Hugh Syme, who has done artwork for pratically every Rush album, has a Web site, technically. It seems to be under development.

New OS

About time!

Crazy Apple Rumors is one funny site.

Jon Anderson @ Apple.com

There's a brief article/interview with Jon Anderson at Apple's site in the creative section.
Bits of his new solo album will be available online in the coming months. There's one movie clip up there currently.

More Vapor Trails Interviews

There's a great bunch of interview video clips at getmusic.com where Alex and Geddy talk a bit about the making of the album and each of the songs.

MTV, of all places, also has an interview/article that give some background info on Neil. The writer misses the boat when he says they sound like Tool, though. Guess they had to put the record's sound in terms that most MTV viewers would understand.

CDNow Interview

There also an interview at CDNow with Alex and Geddy. Think they'll get tired of talking about Neil's tragedies soon?

Big updates at rush.com. Some song samples, desktops, lyrics, and the album bio that ends up in the tourbook.

There's also a new interview with Alex at Jam!

Service

Brought the car in for the big 40,000-mile checkup. Our odometer read 39,999 miles. Wow.

Snack Time

Looks like Space Food Sticks have returned to Earth. There were times where I thought they were just a figment of my imagination.

Back Home

Well, we're back. Good Las Vegas/Los Angeles trip. Took a few pictures and wrote a small trip report, which I still need to finish.
